River Cruises
River cruising takes you into the heart of the destination offering a great mix of culture and scenery. Ships are obviously smaller but with many of the great facilities offered. You’ll often be cruising during the day so you can sit and watch the world go by and see attractions often overlooked on a land based holiday. There are certainly some classic river itineraries close to home such as the superb gorges of the Rhine with it’s spectacular castles and fortresses or perhaps a cruise on the Elbe taking in extraordinarily beautiful landscapes, and including stops at places such as Dresden and Meissen. Why not combine an interest in wine with a cruise up the Duoro with visits to Porto and Pinhão and a visit to a local “quinta”. Further afield explore the mighty Mekong river or perhaps head to the Southern States for The Mississippi or take to the Nile to explore the ancient wonders of Egypt. Often excursions are included but you can also head off to explore alone by foot or in some cases on bicycles making this is a really fabulous holiday option for everyone.
